Canada West received this letter (and accompanying funds) from one former donation recipient:

“For my 16th birthday this year, in lieu of gifts, I asked for donations to the Jessie [+ Bandit] Fund.  The Jessie fund is important to me because a few years ago my dog Bam Bam needed surgery for his back or he would be put down and the Jessie fund helped pay for the fees.  I collected $70 this year from my friends.  This is my second year doing it and I plan to continue doing it in the future.  I hope the money helps someone’s pet get the surgery it needs.”
